A Yunnan black tea with a burgundy-like opening, followed by notes of honey and finishing with light toast. Black Pearl Gunpowder rolls Yunnan's famously rich leaf into tight pearls that unfurl dramatically in the pot, releasing their flavour in slow, generous waves.
Yunnan province is the ancient birthplace of tea, and its black teas are prized for exactly this profile: deep, smooth, honeyed and completely without harshness.
Brew one teaspoon of pearls per cup with freshly boiled water for 3 to 4 minutes, and give the leaves a second infusion — the pearls have more to say. Excellent plain, and smooth enough that milk is strictly optional.
