Founded in 1999 by Deborah and Mark Mercier, Granville Island Tea Co. was born from a genuine love of tea. Deb has been a lifelong tea devotee who, to this day, has never had a cup of coffee.
Nestled in the heart of Granville Island, one of the most visited destinations in Canada, the shop embodies the spirit of the neighbourhood — a place where quality, heritage, and authenticity matter more than chasing the latest trend.
From the beginning, Mark and Deb built something more than a tea shop. Their warmth and eagerness to connect with customers — swapping stories, sharing recommendations — made visitors feel like family. That personal touch has always been at the core of what we do.
Our selection is a direct reflection of our customers. We listen closely to what tea lovers want, and that conversation shapes our ever-growing collection of rare and popular blends. Today, we carry an incredible range spanning classic black teas, delicate florals, bold greens, and everything in between — over 200 varieties in all.
