Santosa Indonesia

This is a Java tea — pale in the liquor, with maltiness and a hint of flowery character, produced during August at the peak of Java quality. The Santosa estate carries on Indonesia's long but little-known tea tradition, growing leaf on volcanic soils that lend a gentle, distinctive character.

Indonesian teas are a lovely departure from the familiar origins: softer than Assam, rounder than Ceylon, with that faint floral note drifting over a mellow malty base.

Brew one heaping teaspoon per cup with freshly boiled water for 3 to 4 minutes. Lovely plain, and takes a small splash of milk without losing its subtlety.
