A green tea from Zhejiang Province in China, whose distinctive tightly rolled leaves account for the origin of its name — gunpowder. The tight rolling protects the leaf and preserves remarkable freshness.
The pellets unfurl dramatically in hot water, releasing a bold, slightly smoky cup with more body than most greens and a clean, brisk finish. This is also the traditional base for Moroccan mint tea.
Brew one teaspoon per cup with water around 80 to 85°C for 2 to 3 minutes. Excellent plain, sweetened in the North African style, or iced.
