This variation of Earl Grey adds dried lemongrass, dried orange peel and cornflowers to spice things up. Russian Earl Grey is the brighter, bolder cousin of the classic: the familiar bergamot is amplified with extra citrus from the orange peel and a fresh, zesty lift from the lemongrass.
The style is a nod to the Russian tradition of taking tea with citrus, and it shows in the cup — vivid, aromatic and sparkling with lemon-orange character over a solid black base.
Brew one heaping teaspoon per cup with freshly boiled water for 3 to 5 minutes. Wonderful plain or with a slice of lemon; it also makes an outstanding citrus iced tea.
